OpenBSD makes an excellent firewall, and includes

IPsec IP security protocol (used to create VPNs)
OpenSSH ssh secure shell, tunneling etc

An OpenBSD box can be used to protect your existing mail server, or replace it completely.

Commerce servers

OpenBSD makes a great web server. Benchmarks might show other operating systems have a slight speed advantage, but unless you are trying to run a site like amazon, you won't notice the difference.
